September 18, 2011
By

On Sept. 17, at about 10:54 pm, the East Fishkill Police Department responded to a call for a man down at the Inn at Arbor Ridge, located at 17 Route 376 in Hopewell Junction. The caller reported that a male  employee of the hotel had been attacked and was bleeding. Upon arrival of officers, it was learned that the victim, a 28 year old employee of the hotel, had actually been stabbed several times and the suspect had fled the scene. Investigation has found that the victim and suspect had met up to make a drug transaction. At that time, the suspect displayed a gun and attempted to rob the victim of the drugs. The gun was taken from the suspect by the victim and a fight ensued. The suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the back, causing several puncture wounds including puncturing both lungs. Eye witnesses pulled the parties apart and the suspect fled the area.  The victim was then transported to the hospital by the East Fishkill Rescue Squad and Mobil Life ALS. Detectives interviewed the subject at the hospital and then followed up on several leads determining that the suspect was Tyler J. Slagle, 19, of 28 Surrey Court in Fishkill. Slagle’s vehicle was later located and a traffic stop was made. Officers found that Slagle was a passenger in the vehicle. He was questioned further at the police station and then taken into custody and charged with Attempted Robbery in the first degree, a class “C” felony and assault in the first degree, a class ”B” felony. He was arraigned by the Honorable Judge MCaliney and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
