The Union Vale Fire Company responded to a home struck by lightning at 51 Wendy Drive in the Town of Union Vale, July 18, 2012 at 3:03 pm, during the numerous storms that swept through the county.

Beekman was also dispatched simultaneously under pre-planned mutual aid and LaGrange responded with their equipment. Millbrook and East Fishkill were on standby at both Union Vale firehouses.

“Our members did a great job,” said Chief Bill Griffin who was pleased with the response of volunteer firefighters. He added, “We have a very good relationship with our mutual aid companies and we all worked well together as a team.”

Union Vale Code Enforcement Officer George Kolb praised the firefighters by saying, “Great save on the house,” since the fire originated in the junction box of the downstairs bathroom and damaged the second floor structural beams in the raised ranch home.

With the quick and efficient response of the Union Vale Fire Company and neighboring mutual aid companies, volunteers knocked down the fire preventing any further damage to the structure.
